On November 24th, the founding conference of the Shanghai Association for China Studies around World was held in Shanghai. The Association is a scholarly, non-profit legal entity, voluntarily constituted by individuals in the city who are engaged in research or practical work endeavors in the fields of Sinology, international relations, international communication, culture dissemination, and the global transmission of Chinese culture It is dedicated to the construction of academic platforms for theoretical research on Worldwide China Studies, and relevant academic exchanges, talent cultivation, decision consulting, and promotion of research achievements.

Shen Guilong, the association’s elected president, delivered a speech stressing that as the first provincial-level research association specialized in the field of China studies worldwide, the Shanghai Association for Worldwide China Studies shoulders the mission of spearheading academic innovation and fostering inter-civilizational dialogue and mutual enrichment. Moving forward, the association will serve as a hub to consolidate Shanghai’s scholarly efforts in the field of Worldwide China Studies, adhere to “China’s perspectives” and “China’s approach,” and promote the development of Shanghai-based scholars’ views and China studies research methodologies with global influence. The association is poised to serve as a repository of intellectual capital, facilitating cross-civilizational exchange and mutual learning.
