The 5th Yangtze River Delta Jiangnan Culture Forum and the 2nd “Jiangnan Culture and New City Construction” Forum Convened in Shanghai
On October 19th, the 5th Yangtze River Delta Jiangnan Culture Forum and the 2nd “Jiangnan Culture and New City Construction” Forum were convened in the Fengxian District of Shanghai.
The forum held a ceremony for the releasing of three academic achievements, the first of which was that the Yangtze River Delta Jiangnan Culture Research Academic Committee was officially jointly formed by the Federations of Social Science Associations from the three provinces and one city (Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Anhui Province, and Shanghai Municipality). Members of the Committee include highly reputed senior experts and young and middle-aged academic backbones from the three provinces and one municipality, all of whom have made outstanding academic achievements in the field of Jiangnan culture research. The committee aims to further leverage the regional advantages of Jiangnan culture research in the Yangtze River Delta, integrate academic resources, and continuously develop the academic community for Jiangnan culture research in the Yangtze River Delta.
Second was the 2019-2022 Yangtze River Delta Jiangnan Culture Research Promotion Paper Selection project. It was jointly launched by the Federations of Social Science Associations from the three provinces and one municipality. This selection focused on the innovation, theoretical significance, and practical value of the papers, aiming to better promote the masterpieces concerning research on Jiangnan culture.
Third was the designation of a specific exhibition zone, in Shanghai Social Sciences Hall, for showcasing Jiangnan culture in the Yangtze River Delta. The work was also jointly completed by the Federations of Social Science Associations from the three provinces and one municipality. Already, in the said special zone a series of activities had been staged, under the name of the “Yangtze River Delta Jiangnan Culture Research Achievements Exhibition and Yangtze River Delta Jiangnan Culture Promotional Film Screening Week”. This exhibition focused on highlighting representative works of Jiangnan culture research published by member units of the Federations of Social Science Associations and the Yangtze River Delta Jiangnan Culture Research Alliance since the establishment of the academic community in 2019. Additionally, promotional videos related to Jiangnan culture from the three provinces and one municipality were also featured.
During the keynote speech session, experts and scholars from the three provinces and one municipality in the Yangtze River Delta gave impressive interpretations of the forum theme from different perspectives, providing insights and theoretical achievements to better facilitate the creative transformation and innovative development of Jiangnan culture and the high-quality integration of the Yangtze River Delta, and better develop the modern civilization of the Chinese nation and a thriving socialist culture in China.
In the afternoon, several speakers, experts, and scholars conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the spiritual connotations, profound implications, important values, creation, and transformation of Jiangnan culture in the new era. Experts attending the forum believed that Jiangnan culture, as an important part of China’s excellent traditional culture, should be inherited, carried forward, and developed. We must adhere to integrity and strive for innovation, constantly promote the creative transformation and innovative development of Jiangnan culture, and make Jiangnan culture an important force that unites people and drives socioeconomic development.
At the forum, Shanghai and Jiangsu conducted a brief handover ceremony for the 6th Yangtze River Delta Jiangnan Culture Forum, which will be organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Social Sciences.
